Preliminary Schedule PHYS232N Fall 2000

This schedule shows approximately which material we will cover when. It also shows the Labs and the due dates for homework assignments.

All assignments are listed both as they appear in the 9th edition (YF 9) and in the 10th edition (YF 10) of our textbook (of course the due date is independent which textbook you use!). The code is supposed to be read like follows: "E22-6" means Chapter 22, Exercise 6; "P28-39" means Chapter 28, Problem 39; "CP22-85" means Chapter 22, Challenge Problem 85; etc. (Exercises, Problems and Challenge Problems are numbered in a single consecutive sequence for each chapter in Young and Freedman).

NOTE:

The Problems listed under "Written Problem" are ("traditional") paper and pen(cil) problems that you are supposed to work out, write up and turn in (either in class or in my mailbox) BEFORE the lecture of the "due date". The remaining problems must be turned in online via WebAssign - they will be due before midnight of the "due date". Make sure you still work them out on paper first (using Algebra all the way until the very end) and only then log in to WebAssign. Be aware that the numerical constants (and maybe the wording) of the online problems are different from the version in the textbook(s), so you need to redo your math with all correct input values. All due dates are absolutely firm - no exceptions!
