Physics 323 is an introduction to selected topics in modern physics including relativity, quantum mechanics, atomic structure, nuclear structure, statistical physics, and condensed matter physics.

Course Content
The course will follow the text closely but not necessarily in the same order.
Exams
There will be two (in-class) midterm exams and a cumulative final exam.

Students should bring a calculator and pencil/pen.  The exams are closed book. A formula sheet with useful equations will be provided.
Make-up exams will NOT be given.  If a student must miss an exam due to an emergency, he/she should notify me immediately.
Homework
I will typically assign one problem set per week, to be turned in at the beginning of class of the following week.

Grading Midterm Exam 1:  20%
Midterm Exam 2:  20%
Final Exam:           30%
Homework:            30%
