Editor's Comments

I'm not convinced there is anything there at all except for the enthusiasm of the true believers. The original paper by Pons and Fleischman describing cold fusion (that they submitted to Science or Nature) was the worst scientific paper I have ever read. There was no evidence to back up their claims. Their subsequent behavior, as described by Robert Park in his wonderful book `Voodoo Science: The Road from Foolishness to Fraud' removed all possible doubt that they had discovered anything. The entire physics and chemistry communities then tried to reproduce their results and failed.

Until such time as the cold fusion community can reproducibly show that they have achieved significant fusion, through the detection of radiation, heat and helium, and that these results scale (ie: when you double the size of the apparatus, you double the effect), I will ignore them and their 'results'.

- Larry Weinstein, April 2007

We welcome your comments and criticisms about cold fusion, and will publish them (selectively) as we receive them. No cursing, obscenities, blasphemy, scatology....  our kids read this website!!
