FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Astronomy Day lecture entitled "Searching For ET" to be delivered by Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer with the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) project.
The lecture will be at 7:30 PM at Old Dominion University on April 20, 2002 (Astronomy Day).

"While fictional aliens  exist in abundance at the local cinema, finding real extraterrestrials is much harder.  In this talk, astronomer Seth Shostak will describe why many scientists believe that intelligent beings could exist, how they are searching for evidence that they do, and what it would mean if we were to find them."

The lecture is sponsored by the ODU Physics Department and Science and Reason in Hampton Roads http://www.physics.odu.edu/~weinstei/srhr.html .

The lecture is also being promoted by the Back Bay Amatuer Astronomers http://groups.hamptonroads.com/BBAA/
